About

We are just a simple couple born and brought up in the Himalayas who love hiking, camping, and traveling to new places. We enjoy being in nature—whether it is in the forest, by the ocean, or driving somewhere we have never been. These little trips help us escape from busy city life, refresh our minds, and also make our relationship stronger and happier.

We are high school love birds, now married and still going strong after 37 years together. Time really flies! Now our only son is grown up and on his own, so we have more free time to explore the things we used to dream about when we were younger.

Most of our life was spent working hard to build careers, raise our child, and create a stable home. Now, we are at a stage where we finally get to enjoy more peaceful time and focus on what makes us happy. We also believe it is very important to have hobbies that both husband and wife enjoy together. Lucky for us, we both love hiking, camping, and visiting new places.

We feel very thankful to the people who helped us discover these hobbies, which have now become a big part of our lives.

Camping
Our camping story began in 2014, thanks to a sweet couple, Mr. and Mrs. Whitney, from the church we used to attend. They invited us to a group camping trip at Greenbrier National Park with 15–20 families. Honestly, we had no clue what we were doing—we didn’t even know which way the tent poles went!

But everyone was kind and helpful. Church members lent us their camping gear, and even my team lead gave me his tent and supplies. That May was colder than we expected, and of course, we didn’t pack enough blankets. The Whitneys saved us again by letting us borrow theirs. That trip made us fall in love with camping.

Since then, Memorial Day camping has become our yearly tradition (we only skipped one year—thanks to COVID). Over the years, we’ve introduced four family friends to camping, and now we all go together every year. It’s a tradition full of fun, laughter, and forgetting things at home.

Hiking
Our hiking journey started more recently. In 2022, one of my wife’s coworkers casually mentioned that she goes hiking every weekend. That small chat gave us a big idea—we thought, why not give it a try?

We began with short and easy hikes (flat ones, of course!). Slowly, we worked our way up to longer hikes and higher elevations. Shenandoah National Park became our favorite spot. Since 2022, we have explored many beautiful trails there—some new, some we repeat because they are just that good.

We’ve also met wonderful people on the trails, including a couple from Maine—she was 69, he was 79—who told us something that stayed with us: “Keep moving.” Such a simple message, but full of meaning.

So that’s our plan now—to keep moving. For our health, our joy, and so we can still hike when we’re 79 (and maybe tell someone else to “keep moving” too!).

Thanks for stopping by our blog. We hope to inspire you to grab your hiking shoes, roll up your sleeping bag, and get out there too. Just don’t forget the bug spray.
